Welcome to My Blog: A Journey Through Mental Health

Hello and welcome! I’m so excited to share this space with you. My name is Frankie Kennedy and I’ve been in the helping field for over 20 years. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with students, mental health professionals, and a variety of individuals searching for answers, and it’s been an incredibly rewarding journey.

I hold a master’s in counseling, and a doctorate in psychology. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to publish work on topics like substance use and DUI recidivism, which are areas close to my heart. These topics are important, not just because of the immediate impact on individuals, but because of the broader mental health conversations they spark.

For the past decade, I’ve also served as a clinical supervisor and coach to counselors, helping to guide and nurture the next generation of mental health professionals. My experience has taught me that effective mental health care begins with creating a supportive and open environment where counselors feel empowered, and clients feel heard and understood.

So, why this blog? Well, my goal is simple: to provide information, raise awareness, and create meaningful conversations about mental health. It's time we destigmatize mental health diagnoses and move beyond outdated stereotypes. Too often, people shy away from addressing their mental health struggles because they fear judgment or shame. My hope is to create a space where people can freely discuss their mental well-being without fear or stigma.

In this blog, you can expect to find discussions on a variety of mental health topics — from managing anxiety and depression, to coping with trauma, understanding addiction, and breaking down the barriers that prevent people from seeking help.

I’m passionate about building a dialogue that encourages empathy and understanding. Mental health is an essential part of our overall well-being, and by fostering open, honest conversations, we can create a more supportive and compassionate world for everyone.

Thank you for joining me on this journey. I look forward to sharing my insights, learning from your experiences, and working together to create change.
